2nd International Workshop on Maritime Flows and Networks (WIMAKS'16)

Paris, 25-27 April 2016

After a successful initial event in June 2014, the World Seastems team is glad to announce the second edition of its international workshop on maritime networks. The workshop is devoted to the analysis and mapping of maritime flows of all kinds in space and time, to enrich our knowledge about the world's backbone. It wishes to gather worldwide scholars and experts from all scientific and disciplinary backgrounds as well as young scholars - with or without a maritime or network background. This multi-disciplinary event will also bring together researchers with the port and maritime industry to share views on crucial socio-economic and logistical issues.

Venue of the Workshop

The Workshop will take place at the Complex Systems Institute of Paris which is located at 113 rue Nationale, Paris. The nearest metro stations are Olympiades (line 14) and Nationale (line 6). In order to find your way around Paris please visit RATP website.


We are happy to announce a very rich program which will certainly create many opportunities for interesting interactions among all the participants. WIMAKS'16 book of abstracts is also avaiable online.This workshop contains 12 sessions, 3 keynote speeches, 33 paper presentations, made by 72 participants. Despite some last minute changes, we are now able to perform this event of high academic standard in the best conditions.


All the contributing participants will receive a registration form by email. There is no registration fee for the Workshop. The costs of accommodation, local public transport, lunches and the gala diner are covered by the organisers (only for the authors of accepted abstracts).
